As expected, Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks turned out to be a celebrity outing. Many familiar faces were spotted sitting courtside supporting both teams — but if you missed them on the broadcast, here’s a roll call of the biggest names.
The Dune star and frequenter of Madison Square Garden was in San Antonio, like we thought he might be. It doesn’t seem that he brought Kylie Jenner, the founder of Kylie Cosmetics and reality television star, along, though he was spotted sitting with Tracy Morgan and rapper Fat Joe, both longtime Knicks fans.Â
The fiancĂ© of Knicks center Karl Anthony Towns and ex-best friend of Kylie Jenner, Jordyn Woods, was at the game, according to her Instagram story.Â
Night at the Museum and Zoolander star Ben Stiller was in attendance as predicted. Stiller is a courtside staple at Madison Square Garden, so we can expect him to stay in town for Game 2 and see him again when the teams travel to New York City for Games 3 and 4.Â
Now for some Spurs supporters. Austin-based comedian Shane Gillis, who relocated to the Lone Star State from New York City, made an appearance wearing a “Chilis 45th & Lamar” tee alongside fellow comedian and podcaster Matt McCusker. Gillis has been known to show up at NBA games, but he also attended Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder, so we’ll count him as a Spurs fan, if not just someone rooting for a Texas team.
San Antonio native and Landman actress Paulina Chávez showed her Alamo City pride at the game by wearing her t-shirt to blend into the crowd. Chávez has attended a couple of games this season, so it’s not surprising to see her come out.Â
Shocking to nobody, Spike Lee was in the building. He also made the rounds downtown before the game, stopping to greet some fans around Brooklyn Avenue (a street name that seemed to amuse him, according to his Instagram). We’ll probably get used to seeing this guy in San Antonio during the series.Â
Actor Tracy Morgan was also there, which was easy to predict, as he’s been spotted at several games this season and is a well-known Knicks fan. He also participated in ESPN’s pre-game show alongside Spike Lee and Iman Shumpert, who played for the Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets.
Severance fans may have recognized John Turturro in the building. The actor attended the game and stopped by San Antonio’s iconic Paris Hatters beforehand, which is a common destination for celebrities visiting the city. He’s also known for his roles in The Big Lebowski and O Brother, where art thou?
Rush Hour icon Chris Tucker came to San Antonio as well, according to an Instagram post from the NBA. He’s a well-known Knicks fan, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see him at Game 2 or in New York City.
Lastly, Knicks legend Patrick Ewing was spotted courtside chatting with Lakers legend James Worthy, according to a post from the NBA.Â
