A quiet night out on the town with your partner usually makes for a tranquil experience—a little dinner, maybe a cocktail or two, and then a smooth ride back to your final destination.
For Houston Rockets superstar Kevin Durant, that type of experience isn’t as easy as it is for the rest of us, as hordes of photographers tend to pop up whenever he makes a public appearance. For Durant, that doesn’t mean the attempt isn’t valiant, but the battle is uphill to make it successful.
According to the Daily Mail, Durant was spotted on a date with an unidentified woman at Nobu in Malibu, a posh upscale restaurant in Los Angeles, on Tuesday. Ironically, the forever-online Durant is also very mindful of his privacy and has consistently expressed pessimism towards ever settling down permanently with a partner.
Therefore, his being spotted with someone is totally understandable. However, his attempt to hide from the cameras unintentionally just gave us all another meme for future, as the 7-foot star hid behind a not-tall-enough bush while waiting for his date to exit the restaurant.
It didn’t take long for the internet to have fun with Durant’s unfortunate moment.
One of Durant’s signature looks is his beanie, which makes him easily recognizable.
As many pointed out, Durant’s hiding spot in the bushes reminds one of another beloved meme, this one featuring The Simpsons’ main character.
Few are as gifted in this world as Durant is at basketball, but his forgetting that he is also in the 99th percentile for height is a worthy laugh. I imagine the group chats among his fellow Rockets and peers across the league might be sending him the Homer Simpson meme quite a bit for the next few months.
Or at the very least, Nobu could do him a solid and get him some bigger bushes ahead of his next visit.
