SOUTH BEND — The basketball coaching carousel has been spinning rapidly in northern Indiana this off-season and today another big move, has a familiar face, returning to a familiar place.

Maurice Scott will take over the boys basketball team at South Bend Washington.

The school announced the hire on social media.

Moe is no stranger to the west side. He coached the Washington girls basketball team from 2008-2014, a team that featured his stepdaughter and 2009 Indiana Miss Basketball Skylar Diggins, and led them to a state runner-up finish in 2009.

Following six seasons at Washington, Scott spent several years as an assistant under Mark Johnson at Riley and Saint Joseph, helping both of their boys programs reach the Semi-State.

Most recently Scott spent the past two years as the head coach of the girls team at South Bend Adams, where he compiled a 20-24 record.

Scott replaces Ryan Varga at Washington.

Varga is now the boys head coach at Jimtown.
