ELKHORN, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska women’s basketball guard Britt Prince returned to her roots, hosting a kids camp in Elkhorn on Tuesday.
More than 90 campers turned out for the two-day clinic to learn from the Huskers star freshman.
“It’s really fun. I enjoy working with the girls and they’re all fun to be around and just want to get better,” Prince said.
Some campers showed up wearing the Elkhorn North alum’s jersey. Others wore their hair down with Adidas headbands in homage to Prince’s signature look.
“It’s really cool,” she said. “I did a lot of this stuff growing up. It’s good to have someone you can look up to and base your game off of. It’s really cool to be able to give back to these girls.”
Prince scored 13.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists in her freshman campaign, earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and All-Big Ten honorable mention. She has her sights set higher for Year Two.
“I thought our team battled through adversity this season with injuries and stuff like that,” Prince said of Huskers squad finished with 21 wins and an NCAA Tournament bid. “I think we definitely got better throughout the year. I’m happy with how it went, but I definitely want to get better.”
