NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Pelicans front office announced two hires on Monday. Joe Sharpe is the team’s new head athletic trainer, and David Cosgrave takes over as vice president of health and performance.

Sharpe has been in the league for over 20 years. He most recently was with the Charlotte Hornets from 2018-2024.
He has also worked with the Oklahoma City Thunder and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Sharpe won two gold medals working as the athletic trainer for the USA men’s basketball Olympic teams in 2012 and 2016.
Cosgrave has an extensive soccer background. He has spent time with teams in the English Premier league, UEFA competition and Major League Soccer.
Cosgrave will be in charge of all aspects of sports medicine, performance and health, looking to optimize player availability.
“David Cosgrave and Joe Sharpe bring a level of professionalism and experience that immediately strengthens our organization and supports our commitment to build a fully integrated, best-in-class medical and performance team,” said executive vice president of basketball operations Joe Dumars in a statement released by the Pelicans.
