Josh Green was nothing more than a rotation piece in his first season with the Charlotte Hornets following a trade from the Dallas Mavericks. During the 2025-26 season, Green played even less but produced more of the same results. After missing the first 24 games due to shoulder surgery, Green came back and played the final 58 of the year, averaging 15.7 minutes per game.

In those minutes, Green showed solid defense but was often forgetful, averaging 4.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.6 steals. Green shot the ball well, going 45.9% from the field and a career-high 42% from 3-point range. Although these numbers were serviceable for a “3-and-D” wing, it’s clear that Charlotte could use more production from the 25-year-old. Looking ahead to next season, Green has one year and $14.67 million remaining on his deal, a contract that the Hornets could look to move on from this summer.
