“Loved everything, the crowd was crazy, but this experience was crazy because we are true Knicks fans,” parade-goer Gail Torres said.
“We were in the same spot like this. We behaved ourselves. No one got violent. Nothing happened,” parade-goer Joanne Arroyo said.

“Security was great, but it was overwhelming. It was a lot of people trying to get to one point, one access point,” parade-goer Tanise Thompson said.
No parking was allowed below Canal Street, and parade-goers had to pass through select access points to even get near the route. To secure the crowd, there were 10,000 officers lined up the streets. The NYPD says that’s record staffing for a single event.
Heading into parade day, there were concerns of chaos, similar to the ones following game wins during the playoffs.
But while police say there were at least 13 people taken into custody, there were no major incidents.
“Let’s not focus on the bad. Overall, the parade was peaceful, and we had a good time even though we didn’t get to see the floats,” parade-goer Ericka Martin said.
However, images show people scaling scaffolding and breaching barriers to witness history.
Despite any trouble along the way, the one thing fans did see was 2 million New Yorkers unified for the first time in a long time.
“For the last month in general it’s been so unified, every culture, every religion, every sex. It’s just overall, I want people to know it’s a good time,” Martin said.
The FDNY told NY1 that 30 patients were sent to the hospital in varying conditions. Some for heat-related emergencies. Another 31 were treated on scene, refusing medical attention.
