All-Star Seniors: Missouri and Illinois seniors show out one last time in all-star basketball game

  • June 21, 2026

QUINCY (WGEM) – Out at John Wood Saturday afternoon, graduated seniors from both sides of the river got to compete one last time as high schoolers.

For the girls, team Missouri got the win 63-60 as Centralia’s Braylin Brunkhorst earned Missouri MVP with 14 points, while Quincy High’s Madelyn Hamby posted a game high 19 points to win Illinois MVP.

“It was really nice just to be able to play one more time in Quincy and have my old teammates playing with me and to be around everyone that I’ve played with all through high school,” Hamby said. The former Blue Devil will go on to play Division II basketball at Monmouth College next year.

In the boys game, team Illinois got the win 93-75. Quincy Notre Dame alum Beau Eftink posted 14 points to win team MVP, while South Shelby’s Colt Schmitz lead the way for the Missouri team with 17.

Eftink plans to play golf in college at Illinois State, but for someone who spent so much time playing basketball in high school he’s glad to end his career this way.

“Growing up with some of these guys, it’s fun to play with Robbie [Reed] and Jace [Allensworth] one last game,” Eftink said. “It’s a little sad but it was also fun to play with some guys we’ve been playing against our whole lives and never actually got to play with, so that was cool.”
