The Bay Area sports teams are no strangers to winning championships.
The Warriors have won four titles since 2015, the Giants have won three since 2010 and the 49ers are tied for second in the NFL for most Super Bowl victories with five.
However, this past season saw the Warriors lose in the NBA’s Play-In Tournament, while the 49ers were blown out by their biggest rivals in the NFC Divisional Playoff round. As for the Giants, they are 17 games below .500 with the All-Star break still weeks away.
The Valkyries, however, made quite an impression last season, becoming the first expansion team to make the playoffs in its inaugural season. When appearing on 95.7 The Game on Friday, Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski went as far as to say they are the closest Bay Area team to winning a title.
“Yeah, you can probably say that,” Podziemski said. “I think that’s a fair statement. They’re really close to the upper echelon of the league…They’re close like I mentioned. I think they have enough pieces to do it, and so yeah I think so.”
Before Warriors fans jump down the oft-outspoken Podziemski’s throat, he did express that the Dubs are not to be overlooked either.
“I will never count us out, either, though.”
The Warriors have a big offseason ahead with the NBA Draft and free agency, but right now, it appears the Valkyries are trending in the right direction.
