The Sacramento Kings have selected Darius Acuff Jr. with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. The point guard comes to the NBA from Arkansas where he help led the Razorbacks to the Sweet 16 in NCAA Tournament. Acuff was named SEC Player of the Year as a freshman after averaging 23.5 points and 6.6 assists per game. Both those numbers led the SEC. He was also the first freshman to win the Bob Cousy Award, which is given to the best point guard in nation. Acuff fills a position of need for the Kings since Scott Perry has joined the franchise as general manager. The team used one of its two second round selections to trade into the first round to get UConn forward Alex Karaban with the 29th pick. The Kings acquired the 29th pick from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for 34th pick and a future second rounder, KCRA 3’s Sean Cunningham reported.Karaban started 150 games throughout four seasons at UConn. He was part of a winning program at UConn, playing in three Final Fours and being a member of two national championship squads. The forward averaged 12.5 points and a 37.4% three-point shooting percentage during his collegiate career. Sacramento still has the 45th pick in the second round, which takes place Wednesday.
