SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Springfield native and Arkansas Razorbacks star Trevon Brazile heard his name called on Day 2 of the NBA Draft.
The San Antonio Spurs selected Trevon Brazile in the second round with the 35th pick. He became the first high school graduate from a Springfield high school to be selected since Parkview High School’s Greg Cavener in 1985. The Golden State Warriors selected Cavener in the fifth round.
Brazile began his career as a freshman at Parkview. He transferred to Kickapoo the next year. Brazile led them to a state championship in his senior year in 2021.
He spent his collegiate freshman year at the University of Missouri. The athletic forward averaged 6.3 points and 5 rebounds while making 22 starts. He transferred to the University of Arkansas in 2022. In this past season under head coach John Calipari, Brazile averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds. He helped lead the Hogs to the Sweet 16 for the second straight season.
Brazile declared for the NBA Draft in 2024 before returning to Arkansas for his final two seasons.
