By now, it is no secret that the Boston Celtics are listening to calls about the trade cost of star forward Jaylen Brown. And we are hearing rumbles that the Georgia native will require a haul of draft capital AND the sort of players that would keep Boston in the contention mix, a hard row to hoe if ever there was one when it comes to satisfying an ask.

But according to recent reporting from the Stein Line founder Marc Stein and co-contributor Jake Fischer, there may be a team in the NBA willing to pony up such an offer for Brown’s services. “There is one team leaguewide,” writes the duo, “most frequently described as actively pursuing Boston’s Jaylen Brown. The Portland Trail Blazers.”

“The Blazers have been known to covet Brown dating back to Damian Lillard’s first tenure with the franchise,” they add. “And they still do.”

Noting that the Blazers had hoped to move Jerami Grant and draft capital for Giannis Antetokounmpo or Anthony Davis, they note that “Brown undeniably ranks as another All-NBA talent who entices them.”

“The question from here, of course, is whether even the aggressive Blazers are willing to satisfy Boston’s steep demands in trade talks”
