Anthony Davis is widely expected to opt out of his contract with the Washington Wizards next offseason.ESPN’s Shams Charania suggested a hypothetical trade sending Davis to the Boston Celtics for Jaylen Brown is imaginable.A potential trade could unite Jaylen Brown with Trae Young and AJ Dybantsa in Washington.Adding Brown could make the Wizards one of the most exciting offensive teams in the NBA.

AJ Dybantsa currently has Anthony Davis as a teammate on the Washington Wizards, but few people in the NBA industry think that relationship will last for anything longer than one year. The expectation is that Davis will surely opt out of his contract next offseason and explore a new destination. Here’s something to think about, however: What if the Wizards don’t even wait that long and find a trade partner for Davis? ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania is open to a possibility.

On ESPN’s “Get Up” show on Friday, Charania was asked about a specific NBA trade scenario: The Boston Celtics send Jaylen Brown to the Wizards for Anthony Davis. Charania’s answer: “You could imagine it.” This hardly means the scenario is likely to unfold, but it also means Charania takes it seriously and isn’t dismissing it immediately.

What a twist it would be if Jaylen Brown goes to Washington, D.C., and joins Trae Young and AJ Dybantsa. The Wizards might have a hole in the middle, but they would be able to play small ball and throw a very potent offense at their opponents. One could say Washington already has that with Young and Dybantsa on the floor together, but adding Jaylen Brown into a smaller lineup could make the Wizards one of the three or four most exciting teams to watch in the NBA next season. Stay tuned for the upcoming free agent frenzy and trade talks which always make the NBA an interesting place in late June and early July.
