The Kings‘ roster we saw last season could look a whole lot different than the one we see in the 2026-27 season.
They could look to shave salary as they navigate a rebuild, but that won’t stop them from trying to sign a player to a sizeable deal this offseason.
Kings expected to target former NBA champion forward in free agency
NBA insider Marc Spears reported that the Kings are expected to revisit their interest in Hawks‘ Jonathan Kuminga this summer.
Kuminga was rumored to be a trade target of Sacramento’s this time last year, as he had a slow summer as an RFA in 2025.

He will be an UFA this summer after the Hawks declined his $24.3 million team option.
He has a lot more freedom this time around, so the Kings may finally get Kuminga after trying to last year.
This likely would require the Kings parting ways with one of their big-salary players (Ex: DeMar DeRozan), so they can sign Kuminga to a long-term deal (via Brett Siegel).
