Fresh off Pacers deal, Tamin Lipsey hones his game with Iowa State in Ames
The ISU legend is working out with his former team.

As Iowa State goes through summer workouts, ISU point guard legend Tamin Lipsey is right next to them, honing his own skills. He’s still in Ames, but getting ready to show the Indiana Pacers what he can do. The NBA team recently signed the undrafted Lipsey. Lipsey leaves for Indy Thursday to work out at the team headquarters for a few days. Then it is on to Las Vegas to begin competing in the Summer League on July 10.”Most importantly, I’m just excited and grateful for any opportunity that I get to compete,” Lipsey said. “You know, have an opportunity to either earn a spot on a team or a two-way or whatever the case may be. With the Pacers organization, I feel like there’s a lot of common themes between how I play and things that they like to do. So, that’s kind of why it was a place I kind of wanted to go to. I’m just excited for the opportunity.”If he makes the roster, he’ll get to be teammates with former Cyclone Tyrese Haliburton, who has turned into the face of the Pacers.”I think relationships are key with anything you do in life,” Lipsey said. “Having people to rely on and, you know, ask questions or just be there, for, for anything you need. And especially someone like him who’s a superstar in the league, being able to rely on him, having him being a Cyclone and things like that.”Lipsey, one of the most decorated players in ISU history, is confident his game will translate to the next level.”I think people know who I am as a player. The only thing that I can control is, you know, my effort and my defense. Those are really the things that I feel like I can contribute at the next level. So, you know, not putting too much pressure on it, you know, go out there and perform, just doing what I do.”
