There are signs the WNBA’s Indiana Fever will have former Shore basketball star Justine Pissott on the court for the first time soon.
ESPN reported Pissott, who has been inactive despite having a developmental contract, could have a chance to play in the game at Las Vegas on Sunday, July 5.

Pissott was the first player signed to a development contract in franchise history. Under a new collective bargaining agreement, teams can sign two players to these contracts. The players practice with the team and can be active up to 12 games – then teams would need to offer a longer-term contract. Players on the development contract are an addition to the 12-player roster and do not count against the salary cap.

According to ESPN, Pissott has been active for zero games so far this season. The Fever currently sit third in the Eastern Conference standings behind Atlanta and New York with an 11-8 record, just one game back from first place. There’s 44 games in a WNBA regular season.
Pissott played at Red Bank Catholic for Joe Montano and was a McDonald’s All-American her senior year. She went on to play a season at Tennessee before transferring to Vanderbilt. She spent three seasons with the Commodores and this past season averaged a career-high 11.1 points a game – the 6-foot-4 wing helped Vandy become a nationally ranked team. She was drafted 25th overall by the Fever.
