LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) – Former Kansas Jayhawk Kelly Oubre Jr. has agreed to a deal with another former Jayhawk on a free agent contract.
Oubre Jr. is reportedly signing a two-year deal worth $17 million with the Indiana Pacers, whose president of basketball operations, Kevin Pritchard, is also a former KU player who was a member of the 1988 national championship team.
The deal, first reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, brings Oubre from the Philadelphia 76ers to Indiana, where he’ll begin his 12th NBA season later this year.
Last season, Oubre averaged 14.1 points per game on 46.7% shooting for the 76ers.
The 30-year-old who played for Kansas during the 2014-15 college basketball season will be at $99 million in career earnings upon the completion of his latest contract with Indiana.
In 11 seasons in the NBA, the Pacers become the sixth team Oubre has played for. After being drafted 15th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, he’s played for the Washington Wizards, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, Charlotte Hornets and Philadelphia 76ers.
