NEWPORT, Maine — As the NBA Draft approaches, excitement is building in Newport, the hometown of Cooper Flagg, who is projected to be the top overall pick. The draft, set for three weeks from tonight, currently has the Dallas Mavericks holding the first pick.
In anticipation of the event, Hamlin’s Marina is organizing a draft night watch party starting at 4:00 p.m. The celebration will feature food trucks, activities for children, and face painting by the UMaine cheerleaders. A massive TV screen will allow fans to watch the draft unfold up close.
The owners of the marina expressed their enthusiasm, saying it will be a special night for fans to come together and celebrate.
