1:48 pm: Only the first year of the Grizzlies’ offer sheet for Post is fully guaranteed, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, who tweets that there are $1.3MM in annual performance bonuses for making an All-Defensive team.
Although that annual $1.3MM bonus is considered an “unlikely” incentive and wouldn’t count against Post’s cap hit, it would count toward a team’s apron salary, which is an important factor to consider for a Golden State team facing a second-apron hard cap.

The offer sheet figures to come out of Memphis’ $15MM non-taxpayer mid-level exception. Assuming Post officially signs by 12:00 pm ET on Monday, the Warriors will have until 11:59 pm ET Tuesday to decide whether to match.

The Warriors made Post a restricted free agent a week ago by issuing him a qualifying offer worth roughly $2.65MM. Jake Fischer and Marc Stein reported a couple days later that an offer sheet was a possibility for the big man.
Offer sheets have become an increasingly rare way of doing business in the NBA over the past few years, notes Bobby Marks of ESPN (Twitter link). He points out that the last player to sign an offer sheet worth more than $5MM per season was Matisse Thybulle with Dallas in 2023, and the last time an offer sheet wasn’t matched was in 2020 when Bogdan Bogdanovic went from Sacramento to Atlanta.
Post developed into a reliable backup big man and part-time starter for the Warriors after being selected with the 52nd pick in the 2024 draft. In 67 games this season (35 starts), he averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17.3 minutes per night while shooting 44% from the field and 33.6% from three-point range.
Post projects to be a floor-stretching backup to Zach Edey in Memphis if the Warriors don’t match the offer sheet. He would join an increasingly crowded frontcourt that will also feature new additions Isaiah Stewart, Cameron Boozer, and Karim Lopez, along with GG Jackson II and Taylor Hendricks.
