Looney spent the first 10 years of his NBA career with the Warriors, winning three championships and quickly becoming adored by the fan base.

And after a decade in the Bay, Looney signed a two-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans. However, the Pelicans declined his $8 million option for the 2026-27 season, making the veteran big man an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Last season, Looney was slowed by a left knee injury he suffered during the preseason. He played just 21 games (eight starts) with New Orleans, and the Pelicans finished 11th in the West with a 26-56 record.

In 11 NBA seasons, Looney has averaged 4.9 points on 57 percent shooting, with 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists.

Looney now joins a top Western Conference team that is maneuvering a slight remodel with LeBron James’ departure. His championship experience and leadership should be welcomed by the Lakers.
