One of the Mavericks‘ top assistant coaches from last season is moving on.
Vogel brought a wealth of head coaching experience to Dallas’ staff, as he has previously served as the head coach of the Pacers, Magic, Lakers and Suns and guided Los Angeles to the 2020 championship in the bubble. After new Mavericks president Masai Ujiri moved on from Kidd and hired Dusty May from Michigan, Vogel will now move on to a new coaching staff.
Kidd hired three new lead assistants last year: Vogel, Jay Triano and Popeye Jones. All three are reportedly moving on.
While May’s first coaching staff in Dallas is still a work in progress, it appears there won’t be many holdovers from the Kidd regime.
