Gray Media, Atlanta Hawks reach TV deal for 2026-27 season

  • July 16, 2026

ATLANTA (WAFF) – Gray Media and the Atlanta Hawks announced Thursday a broadcast partnership to air all non-nationally televised Hawks regular-season games on WANF (Atlanta News First) and Peachtree Sports Network during the 2026-27 NBA season.

The companies said the games will be available for free over the air in the Atlanta market. They will also be available through major pay-TV providers and streaming services that carry WANF.

Gray said stations in Albany (WALB), Augusta (WRDW), Columbus (WTVM), Macon (WPGA) and Savannah (WTOC) will also carry games.

What’s in the agreementRegular season: All non-nationally televised Hawks regular-season games will air on WANF and Peachtree Sports Network.Preseason: Gray will air three preseason games.Select national games: Gray said it will also air select national games.Schedule: Game-by-game details and tipoff times will be announced later.

Gray said viewers can watch on WANF’s free over-the-air signal and through WANF carriage on Xfinity, Spectrum, DirecTV and DISH Network.

WANF is also available on YouTube TV, DirecTV Stream and Fubo, according to the announcement.

“This partnership is a reflection of what Gray Media does best — serving our communities with the content they care about most,” Gray Media Chairman and CEO Hilton H. Howell said in a statement.

WANF and WPCH General Manager Erik Schrader said the station’s independent status allows it to carry more Hawks games.

Atlanta Hawks President of Business Enterprise and Chief Commercial Officer Andrew Saltzman said the deal expands access for fans across Georgia.

Gray and the Hawks said the 2026-27 season marks a full-time return to free, local over-the-air broadcasts for the franchise.

The Hawks previously aired on WPCH (then WTCG/WTBS) from 1972-1994 and on WANF (then WGNX/WGCL) from 1986-1993, according to the announcement.

During the 2025-26 season, a 13-game package aired on WANF and Peachtree TV and averaged more than 1.5 times the ratings of the Hawks’ other local games, Gray said, citing Nielsen Local TV Viewership (Live+SD), 2025-2026, Atlanta, Adults 18+.
