In a matter of days, it’ll be time for the 2026 NBA Finals. The 2025/2026 season that kicked off way back in October has all been building to this: the Eastern Conference and Western Conference Champions facing off in a best-of-seven series with the Larry O’Brien trophy on the line.

How to Watch

Watch NBA on NBC on NBC and streaming on Peacock.

The playoffs began back in April, when the Play-In Tournament wrapped up and we started the playoffs proper with 16 teams, eight from each conference, all with their eyes on the NBA Finals and an NBA Championship. Now we’re down to just three teams still in contention, with an Eastern Conference Championship crowned nearly a week ago, and the Western Conference Finals going down to the wire this past weekend on NBC and Peacock. So, who’s in, and who’s still got a shot? Let’s take a look.

Who won the Eastern Conference and a spot in the 2026 NBA Finals?

On Memorial Day, the New York Knicks punched their ticket to the 2026 NBA Finals with a dominant Game 4 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, capping off a four-game sweep in which the Knicks almost always looked like they were in control. Jalen Brunson, long considered the on-court leader of this iteration of the Knicks, won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP trophy.

The victory marks the first time since the 1999 season that the Knicks have made it all the way to the Conference Finals, and they did in dominant fashion, rolling past teams in the Conference Semifinals and the Conference Finals. The Knicks have now won 11 straight playoff games, and they’ve had a chance to sit back and relax for a few days while the Western Conference was decided.

Who won the Western Conference?

The Eastern Conference was settled fast, but the Western Conference? Well, that series went all the way to Game 7. The Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs traded blows over the course of nearly two weeks, battling it out in San Antonio and Oklahoma City, until it all came to an end on May 30. In the decisive Game 7, the Spurs held off a late surge by the Thunder to take the win 111-103, sending them back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014.

Now, the NBA Finals will mark a rematch from the ’90s. The Knicks’ last Finals appearance, in 1999, was against the Spurs, who won their first NBA Championship at the end of that series. The Knicks will be looking for redemption, while the Spurs will be looking for a return to their days as a dynasty.

When do the 2026 NBA Finals start?

The San Antonio Spurs will face the New York Knicks when the 2026 NBA Finals begin Wednesday, June 3.Â
