The Mavericks are bringing another Michigan man into the organization.

The guard was selected by Orlando with the 11th overall pick in the 2023 NBA draft after one season at Michigan, where he was coached by his father and former Maverick, Juwan Howard. He led the Wolverines in scoring with 14.2 points per game and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.

Smith was the No. 33 overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, where he averaged 2.9 points and 1.1 rebounds and 0.2 assists in 23 games. He signed with Dallas in March 2026 after a stint with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G League. In 12 games with the Mavericks last season, He averaged 4.7 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.4 assists.
