Former Gonzaga point guard Ryan Nembhard is on the move after his rookie season with the Dallas Mavericks.
The trade, which was approved by the NBA on Sunday, involves three teams: The Mavericks are sending Nembhard to the Atlanta Hawks, the Oklahoma City Thunder are sending Lu Dort to Atlanta, and the Hawks are sending former No. 1 overall pick Zaccharie Risacher to Dallas. Oklahoma City is receiving three second-round picks from Atlanta.
Nembhard just competed with Dallas at the NBA Summer League days ago, where he played in two games but missed the Mavericks’ final three games due to an illness.
In his rookie season, Nembhard played in 60 games, including 27 starts for the Mavericks. He averaged 19.5 minutes, 6.6 points and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 41.5% from the field and 35.6% from 3-point range.
The move links up Nembhard with former Zag Corey Kispert in Atlanta.
Last season, the Hawks made it to the NBA playoffs but lost to the eventual NBA champion New York Knicks in the first round.
This offseason, Dallas made major changes in the front office, including hiring former Michigan head coach Dusty May.
