In a heartfelt Instagram post, he reflected on his lengthy journey through the sport.
“After so many years dedicated to this sport, the time has come to say goodbye to a chapter that defined my life,” the Uruguayan player said on social media.
“Basketball gave me so much more than a profession. It allowed me to fulfill the dream I had as a little boy, chasing a ball through the streets and courts of Uruguay with it tucked under my arm. It taught me to enjoy the good moments, overcome the difficult ones, and never stop believing.”
Granger’s extensive EuroLeague career
Granger’s professional path began in Spain with Estudiantes in 2007. However, it was his two-year stint with Unicaja Malaga that marked the start of his EuroLeague journey.
Moving on to Turkey, the guard spent 2015-17 with Anadolu Efes Istanbul. He later joined Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz for three seasons before signing a one-year contract with ALBA Berlin in 2020. For his final EuroLeague campaign in 2021-22, he returned to Baskonia.
Statistically, his peak came during the 2014-15 season with Unicaja, where he averaged 10.2 points, 4.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 12.1 PIR.
Granger’s most notable accomplishments were winning a German League title and Finals MVP in 2021, a Spanish League title in 2020 and an All-ACB First Team selection in 2015.
He also spent time playing in Italy and his native Uruguay in his final years as a professional basketball player.
