Following yet another underwhelming performance during the 2025-26 NBA season, many expected the Golden State Warriors to make some massive moves this offseason.
The Warriors seemed on that path for a while as they were one of the frontrunners to sign LeBron James before the 4x NBA champion joined the Philadelphia 76ers.
Veteran Draymond Green was on the frontline negotiating with James, as he even opted out of his $27.7 million player option to make room for the King.

Unfortunately, the LBJ to Warriors move never became a reality as they remain the only organization in the NBA to not make even a single new addition to the roster in the offseason.
In fact, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Warriors have now re-signed Green to a one-year, $27.7 million deal.

This is the aftermath of the Dubs’ failed James pursuit and the Warriors Nation isn’t happy with a 36-year-old out-of-prime Green making nearly $30 million this season.
“Almost 30 million for a dude who’s gonna give you 5 points and 6 rebounds lmaooo,” a fan wrote. While another added, “Dub nation it’s over and that’s alright.”

“$27.7M for a guy who spends more time arguing with refs than scoring,” a furious fan expressed his disappointment.
“Steph curry wasting his years staying in GSW,” a fourth fan pointed out. While a fifth fan simply wrote, “Rich Paul would go down as the most influential NBA agent ever!”
Considering Green averaged just 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game last season, it’s no surprise that fans are stunned by the Warriors handing him a massive payday.
Many believe this will lead to another poor season for the Warriors as the organization continues to give superstar Stephen Curry a competitive roster.
