If you’ve been streaming Brooklyn Nets basketball or the rest of the local sports landscape through the Gotham Sports App, changes are officially on the horizon.

In a partnership announced on Wednesday, MSG Networks and the YES Network entered an agreement that will make DAZN the exclusive direct-to-consumer streaming home for both networks starting with the 2026–2027 NBA and NHL seasons.

This transition effectively sunsets the collaboration with Gotham Sports App, which was launched in the spring of 2024 under the networks’ joint Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment (GAME) venture.

“Our new strategic partnership with DAZN reflects the YES Network’s continued commitment to elevate the streaming experience for our direct-to-consumer subscribers and TV Everywhere users,” said Jon Litner, President and CEO, YES Network. “DAZN offers a world-class technology platform and elite, live sports streaming expertise, and we look forward to working with them and MSG Networks to continue to serve Yankees and Nets fans, as well as fans of the teams carried by MSG, with the most compelling sports content in the country.

For Brooklyn Nets fans and the wider New York sports ecosystem, here’s everything you need to know:

What This Means for Nets Fans

For Brooklyn supporters and consumers who previously relied on the Gotham Sports App, the shift moves the viewing experience onto DAZN’s international sports platform. Current standalone subscribers and users of the Gotham Sports App will be transitioned directly to the new environment. According to the official announcement:

“Current users of The Gotham Sports App will continue to receive uninterrupted access to the content they love as YES and MSG prepare to migrate users to DAZN during the 2026-2027 NBA and NHL seasons. Exact timing and other details of the migration will be announced in the coming months.”

Meanwhile, fans who already pay for these networks through traditional television providers will retain authentication privileges without extra fees. The announcement confirms:

“Subscribers who receive MSG Networks or the YES Network as part of their pay TV subscription will continue to receive MSG and YES content, as applicable, via the DAZN platform at no additional cost.”

Subscribers within the networks’ regional coverage will have access to the following New York franchises:

NBA: Brooklyn Nets and New York KnicksMLB: New York YankeesNHL: New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, and Buffalo Sabres24/7 Feeds & Original Content: Continuous streams of the YES Network, MSG, and MSG Sportsnet, alongside highlights, behind-the-scenes features, and Emmy Award-winning original programming.

DAZN is best known for its massive international soccer, combat sports, and global rights portfolio. Now, the platform is now making a heavy push into the U.S. regional sports market by absorbing YES and MSG first.

“The New York sports landscape has a rich heritage of teams and DAZN is honored to partner with both the YES Network and MSG Networks to become their exclusive direct-to-consumer streaming home, bringing the Yankees, Knicks, Rangers, Nets, Devils, Islanders, and Sabres to more fans than ever before,” said Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group.

It doesn’t sound like they’ll be stopping there. Sports Business Journal reported that DAZN is targeting NBA’s 2027-28 centralized streaming hub, and will “likely” land seven more teams in DTC deals for the Cavs, Timberwolves, Pacers, Spurs and Grizzlies. Magic and Hornets.

“We are in discussion with many other teams, and I can promise you that more teams will follow very soon,” Segev told SBJ in an exclusive.

While the rest of the world’s giant streaming apps are primarily focused on national media rights deals, DAZN is carving out a distinct playbook by targeting local markets. If this partnership is any indication, it could very well mark the beginning of a major shift for regional sports coverage.
