It looks like another one of Hakeem Olajuwon‘s sons will be leaving the Lone Star State earlier than expected to pursue their basketball dreams.
On Tuesday, Malik Olajuwon, son of the Houston Rockets and Houston Cougars legend, announced on Instagram, in a joint statement with Sam Keyser of League Ready, that he will be transferring from Fort Bend Clements in Sugar Land to the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

The 6-foot-5 guard is currently ranked No. 58 in ESPN’s Top 100 for the Class of 2027 and has 11 offers thus far, including in-state powers SMU, Texas Tech and TCU and out-of-state programs like Wake Forest, Auburn and Kansas State. The four-star prospect is slated to visit the Red Raiders in Lubbock on Sept. 18 and the Mustangs in Dallas on Sept. 25.
The 18-year-old has had a busy summer, starring for the Canadian Under-18 National Team and winning the country’s first gold medal at the U18 AmeriCup.
The Olajuwon siblings have all carried their father’s basketball craft to their own levels of success.
Big sister Abi Olajuwon was a McDonald’s All-American and a four-year standout for the Oklahoma Sooners from 2006-10, went on to play in the WNBA, and is now an assistant coach for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
IMG Academy went 20-9 overall last season and hired Jackson Johnson as head basketball coach during the offseason. Johnson won back-to-back New England Prep School state titles and the program’s first-ever National Prep Championship.
So far, none of The Dream’s kids have brought their talents back to Texas to play ball. Will Malik be the first? Another Olajuwon is still possible, as Hakeem’s nephew Alim, a 6-foot-3 junior guard for Episcopal in Houston, currently has one offer from Louisiana Tech.
