New Los Angeles Lakers acquisitions Collin Sexton and Walker Kessler have plenty of history together. Not only were the two teammates with the Utah Jazz, but they also grew up near each other with Kessler hailing from Atlanta while Sexton is from nearby Marietta.

Now, the duo plans on bringing that chemistry they have built together over many years to the purple and gold and the two are already hard at work back in their home state of Georgia. It is clear to see that Sexton and Kessler have a built-in chemistry as the point guard just knows where the big man is going to be on pick-and-rolls and is easily able to find him for multiple easy buckets. This should translate easily when they are suiting up for the Lakers and Kessler should be the beneficiary of many dunks not only from Sexton, but also Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

Both players are expected to play big roles for the Lakers this coming season as Kessler is locked in as the team’s starting center who should pair perfectly alongside Doncic and Reaves. He will also anchor the defense as one of the league’s best rim protectors.

Sexton has long proven himself to be a great scorer in the NBA and can operate both on and off the ball with experience as a starter and coming off the bench. He seems likely to be the Lakers’ sixth man, being able to lighten the scoring and playmaking duties on Doncic and Reaves while also being able to play alongside either or both of them as he is an excellent catch-and-shoot player as well.

Both Kessler and Sexton are putting in the work needed to hit the ground running in their first season with the purple and gold and they will both be critical to the success of the Lakers this season.

Collin Sexton discusses how he got ‘Young Bull’ nickname

Sexton has one of the best nicknames in the NBA today as he is known as the “Young Bull.” And the Lakers guard recently described how that nickname came about as it was something given to him as a child growing up and just stuck with him throughout his entire life.
