JEFFERSON CITY – Jack Browder pumped in a school-record eight consecutive game of 20 or more points, but Carson Newman came up shot in a South Atlantic Conference home loss to Catawba.

The senior forward and Dobyns-Bennett product finished with 24 points and notched his 32nd career double-double by adding 11 rebounds.

Braden Ilic (Morristown East) dished out a team-best five assists, to go along with six points and six rebounds.

Catawba dominated the battle on the glass, outrebounding C-N 52-39 which included a 24-10 advantage on the offensive glass as well. Those 24 Catawba offensive rebounds turned into a +24 advantage in second chance points. Catawba is the first opponent to grab 50 rebounds or more against the Eagles since Newberry grabbed 52 on January 14th, 2012.

Carson-Newman committed a season-high 19 turnovers and Catawba scored 21 points off those turnovers, 17 of which came in the opening half.

Milligan 75, Carolina University 72

MILLIGAN, TN – Milligan saw a 17-point halftime lead dissipate, but recovered enough to post the win over the Rams.

It was a reverse layup by Grant Hensley (Unicoi County) that put the Buffs (4-11, 2-5 AAC) ahead to stay, 72-70, with a minute left.

Elijah Bredwood led the Milligan offense with 23 points on 8-of-18 shooting and he made 3-of-9 shots from distance. Two other Buffs reached double-digit scoring in Liviu Anton (15) and Te’Jon McDaniel-McCormick (12). Overall, Milligan’s offense was efficient, finishing 27-of-59 (45.8%) from the field and 7-of-25 (28%) from three.

Milligan passed out 15 assists in the triumph, led by Bredwood and Hensley who each dished out four apiece

The Buffs amassed a total of 33 rebounds, led by McDaniel-McCormick, who completed his double-double on the glass with ten. Damjanovic battled in the paint throughout the game and reeled in seven boards.

UPike 103, Truett McConnell 61

CLEVELAND, GA – Sophomore forward Rylee Samons scored a career-high 28 points to pace four players in double figures as the University of Pikeville beat Truett McConnell University 103-61 on Saturday.

The win raised UPike to 14-2 on the season and 8-0 in AAC play. The Bears’ win streak now stands at 13.

Senior guard Bradley Bunch (Union) had a double-double by halftime and finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Senior guard Keynan Cutlip (Science Hill was 5 of 7 from the field for 12 points.

Meanwhile, senior guard Keian Worrix handed out six assists while scored eight and pulling down three rebounds.

Tusculum 78, Bluefield 71

GREENEVILLE – Freshman Jordan Attia scored a season-high 17 points to lead the Pioneers to the non-conference win at Pioneer Arena.

Tusculum (7-5) stretched its season-best winning streak to three.

Junior Amari Allen added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Pioneers, while junior TJ Printup posted 11 points, nine rebounds, two blocked shots and dished out a career-high five assists with zero turnovers in his 30 minutes of play.

Malachi Hale (Dobyns-Bennett) accounted for eight points and secured three rebounds.

WOMEN

Milligan 93, Brenau 57

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — Semaj Clark’s 24 points lead four double-digit scorers in the Lady Buffs huge conference road win.

Clark shot a strong 9-of-15 from the field and 5-of-6 on free throws while going for another double-double with 13 rebounds.

Bremer was also in double figures for Milligan (9-6, 8-0 AAC), scoring 16 points on a 7-of-10 showing. Naomi Atchley came through with 11 points and Lexi Ervin (Gate City) tossed in ten.

A team-high seven assists were tallied by Lina Lyon (Elizabethton) against just one turnover.. Caroline Krueger (Knox Catholic) and Bremer dished out three assists apiece.

Callie Reeder added five boards, Krueger collected four, and both Myers and Ervin snatched three.

UNC-Pembroke 72, King 68

BRISTOL – Jaelyn West (Sullivan Central, West Ridge) compiled 12 points, four rebounds and two assists in the Tornado loss.

Le’Aije Ellington led King (1-2, 4-8) with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three, while going a perfect 3-for-3 at the line.

Aliyah Hawkins matched West with 12 points, shooting 4-of-7 from the field and adding three assists and a steal.

Raven Addison contributed six points, three rebounds, and two assists, providing steady interior play.

Mary Elizabeth Fox gave King a lift off the bench with 10 points and six rebounds and freshman Fallon Taylor (West Ridge) added six points in six minutes, shooting a perfect 2-for-2 from the field.

Wingate 63, Anderson 58

ANDERSON, SC – Kyleigh Bacon (Daniel Boone) led the Bulldogs to their second conference win of the season.

Bacon had 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals, going eight-for-11 at the line

The Bulldogs improve to 7-5 overall and 2-4 in the South Atlantic Conference.
