When former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse left the squad for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2023, the government of Ontario slapped him with a near $700,000 parting gift. The Ministry of Finance rejected Nurse’s application for a rebate of the $697,500 non-resident speculation tax (NRST) that he and his wife had previously paid on their $4.65-million Mississauga home.

Toronto Police say Ann, 63, was last seen on Aug. 8 at about noon in the area of Victoria Park Ave. and Eglinton Ave. E. She’s described as 5-foot-7, has a slim build and shoulder-length blond hair and was wearing a white top, black pants, reading glasses and brown running shoes. They add that Ann speaks with a Scottish brogue and may appear to be confused. Ann’s case has been upgraded to a Level 1 search, which “reflects the extreme concern for the missing person’s safety but does not automatically mean foul play or criminality,” said Const. Sinderela Chung.

Costs associated with the Ontario Line subway construction project continue to escalate, the boss of Metrolinx says. “When the Ontario Line began as a project, we lived in a different world with respect to major capital project delivery,” Metrolinx CEO and president Michael Lindsay told reporters on Tuesday. “We have experienced one of the worst supply chain shocks in the last several decades, trade uncertainty, but I can tell you that the direct costs of every single item on the Ontario Line are competitively bid and we progressively develop these projects with our partners precisely because we want to have that kind of line-item scrutiny on the costs.”

After about a week of declining gas prices, Toronto-area drivers will have to again pay more to fuel up, according to a leading gas expert. Speaking to CP24 Breakfast, Canadians for Affordable Energy president Dan McTeague said the price of regular gas in the GTA would go up by six cents a litre on Wednesday, hitting 168.9 cents, while diesel will also go up 12 cents, pushing prices to 220.9 cents per litre.
