Celebrating the rookie: Sea Dogs giving away Cooper Flagg bobbleheads

Chances are the crowd for Wednesday’s Portland Sea Dogs game against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies will arrive early. That is because it is Cooper Flagg Bobblehead day at Hadlock Field.

Flagg, who was named NBA Rookie of the Year after the Dallas Mavericks made the Newport, Maine, native the number one overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, has had a whirlwind year.

The first 1,000 fans to enter Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field for Wednesday’s game will get a Cooper Flagg bobblehead. The figure will feature Flagg wearing his #32 Maine United uniform. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and first pitch is at 6 p.m.

Flagg himself will not be at the game. More than 6,000 tickets have been sold for the game.

The giveaway is part of the Sea Dogs’ Notable Mainers bobblehead series.

“The people of Maine are proud of what Cooper Flagg has accomplished,” said Sea Dogs General Manager Jesse Scaglion. “We’re excited to honor him as part of our Notable Mainers series and give fans the chance to take home a unique collectible.”

Previous honorees in the Notable Mainers bobblehead series include Senator Margaret Chase Smith (2017), NESN personality Tom Caron (2018), Olympian Joan Benoit Samuelson (2019), actor Patrick Dempsey (2022), astronaut Chris Cassidy (2023), and basketball standout MacKenzie Holmes (2024).
