The Phoenix Suns have waived Haywood Highsmith, creating an open roster spot ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season. The move was first reported by HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto and later confirmed by multiple outlets.
Highsmith was entering the season on a $3 million contract, with $1 million guaranteed. By waiving the veteran forward, Phoenix gains additional roster flexibility as training camp approaches.
The 29-year-old joined the Suns in February 2026 after being released by the Brooklyn Nets. Over six NBA seasons, he established himself as a reliable 3-and-D wing, averaging 5.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and shooting 38% from three-point range.
It remains unclear whether the move is intended to make room for another signing or simply to provide the Suns with greater roster flexibility heading into the new season.
