Kevin Garnett’s jersey may be retired by the Minnesota Timberwolves on February 28, according to an insider report.Garnett played 14 seasons for the Timberwolves, winning an MVP award and earning numerous All-NBA selections.The potential ceremony date coincides with a game against the Boston Celtics, where Garnett also won a championship.The franchise has not yet officially confirmed the date for the jersey retirement ceremony.
Although it has yet to be confirmed, Minnesota Timberwolves insider Dane Moore reported that February 28 could be the night that franchise legend and NBA Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett gets his jersey retired with the franchise.
Garnett spent 14 seasons in Minnesota, playing in 970 contests, averaging 19.8 points, 11 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.4 steals. During his tenure with the Timberwolves, Garnett won an MVP award during the 2003-04 season, averaging 24.2 points, 13.9 rebounds, five assists, 1.5 steals and 2.2 blocks. He also made eight All-NBA selections and eight All-Defensive selections.
Following his tenure in Minnesota, Garnett was traded to the Boston Celtics, where he went on to win a Defensive Player of the Year Award and an NBA championship. The Timberwolves will be facing the Celtics February 28, making the night even more special for “The Big Ticket,” assuming the speculative date for his ceremony is later confirmed.
