On Wednesday, the Charlotte Hornets announced that they would be broadcasting all non-nationally televised games on local stations.

In the Charlotte area, the games are going to be broadcast across WSOC Channel 9 and TV64. The team broadcast a selection of games across both networks last year, and it seems as though those functioned as a trial run. It obviously went well enough for both parties to make the arrangement permanent. This comes on the heels of FanDuel Sports Network formerly known as Bally Sports formerly known as Fox Sports Southeast finally went belly up for good.
The big question on everyone’s mind is what this means for Eric and Dell. The team has said there is more to come on that, but I can’t imagine that this ends any way other than Eric Collins and Dell Curry retaining their role as one of the best commentator duos in the NBA.
There is also more to follow this announcement. There will be more networks to provide Hornets broadcasts across North and South Carolina outside the Charlotte region. There are also apparently plans to announce a streaming option that I’m sure will target cord cutters within the broadcast region. My guess would be that people outside of the broadcast area will continue to need NBA League Pass to watch the Hornets.
The timing of the announcement makes sense with the NBA schedule set to release in full on Thursday. Now we know where we’ll be watching the Hornets. Up next we get to find out who and when.
