Leu Gardens invites visitors for an enchanting evening of fairy festivities in a whimsical celebration at Orlando’s 50-acre botanical oasis.

Fairy Night gathers the community in an “enchanting world of fairies and wonder” for an after-hours event this Friday. Guests can discover 20 fairy doors hidden throughout the garden, enjoy crafts and meet real fairies.

“It’s not just for kids. Families and children are a big part of Fairy Night. We found that adults of all ages enjoy dressing up and having fun,” said Jennifer D’hollander, Leu Gardens’ executive director. “It sparks a little bit of imagination, and I think, as adults, we need that. It’s really great for everyone.”

Different stations will be set up for visitors to collect fairy dust, make a butterfly, paint a fairy door or make a fairy garden with real plants to take home. There will also be fairy characters wandering to greet guests and take photos.

Treats and refreshments will be available for purchase from Foxtail Coffee, The Gnarly Cuban and KaleidoPops.

The Fairy Doors exhibit returned in June for the seventh time and will be on display through Sept. 7. D’hollander said that July paid attendance is up compared to last year and that the special offering encourages new people to explore the gardens.

“It gets people curious about the gardens, which is my favorite part about it. It always seems to bring people back,” she said. “It’s wonderfully simple and the fact that it changes every year keeps attracting people.”

Hosting other events like Dog Days, movie night, late hours on Thursdays and Dazzling Nights have helped draw new audiences to Leu Gardens.

“We believe in the restorative power of nature and the idea that gardens are for everyone. They can provide moments in time that can provide that peace and quiet, or maybe you need some live music and to have fun,” D’hollander said. “Whatever you’re looking for, there’s a little bit of something for everyone within our event mix.”
