The Philadelphia 76ers have had a busy summer after the big additions of Jaylen Brown and LeBron James. They will count on those two to give them the cachet and the experience needed to get to the top of the NBA. Both have won finals MVP awards and a ton of success in this league and will look to do the same in Philadelphia.
With that being said, one has to wonder about the development of young VJ Edgecombe. The No. 3 pick of the 2025 NBA draft had an impressive rookie season and the Sixers should absolutely develop the young guard. One has to wonder how they will do it, though, with the touches that everybody else will need within the offensive ecosystem as they move forward.
Edgecombe, however, isn’t worried about it as he stated per The Philadelphia Inquirer:
“I mean, it don’t matter what happens, there’s always going to be someone that has something to say,” Edgecombe said. “But I just want to win. I’m going to still be aggressive, still be myself. If that comes with less shots or more shots, who knows. I don’t know how the course of the game is going to go. I’m just excited to play alongside my teammates. I think we have a chance to do something really special.”
Edgecombe averaged 16.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in his rookie season while also putting up some impressive stat lines–both in the regular season and the playoffs. He had his ups and downs just like any other rookie, but Edgecombe continues to stand out and give Philadelphia a ton of production. It should continue in his second season in 2026-27.
