BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech women’s basketball coach Megan Duffy unveiled the Hokies’ 2026-27 non-conference schedule Monday, featuring 13 games, including 10 at Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum.
The schedule also includes a trip to Destin, Florida, for the Emerald Coast Classic.
Virginia Tech will open its preseason with an exhibition game at Maryland on Monday, Oct. 19. The Hokies and Terrapins have not met since March 2, 2014, in College Park. Maryland finished 24-9 last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Hokies officially begin the regular season at home against NC Central on Monday, Nov. 2. The teams have met four times, with all four games taking place in Blacksburg.
Delaware visits Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday, Nov. 4, for the first matchup between the programs since Dec. 20, 1985, when Virginia Tech won 74-61. The Hokies remain home Sunday, Nov. 8, against in-state opponent James Madison. It will be the Dukes’ first trip to Blacksburg since Dec. 14, 2008.
Virginia Tech then faces a pair of Atlantic 10 opponents. The Hokies travel to VCU on Thursday, Nov. 12, before hosting La Salle on Sunday, Nov. 15.
The schedule continues with the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin on Nov. 23-24. Virginia Tech opens against UT Martin on Monday, Nov. 23, before facing either Alcorn State or Michigan State on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
The Hokies return home to host UNC Greensboro on Sunday, Nov. 29. It will mark the Spartans’ third consecutive trip to Blacksburg. Virginia Tech defeated UNC Greensboro 72-51 at Cassell Coliseum on Nov. 20, 2023.
December begins with a marquee matchup against Tennessee in the SEC/ACC Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 3, at Cassell Coliseum.
Virginia Tech then closes its non-conference schedule with four consecutive home games, beginning with App State on Wednesday, Dec. 9. The game is part of a three-game series that will bring the Mountaineers back to Blacksburg in 2028. The Hokies are 9-0 at home against App State, with the most recent meeting coming Dec. 4, 2020, when Virginia Tech won 84-59.
Campbell visits Dec. 13, marking the second meeting between the teams during Duffy’s tenure. The Camels finished 20-12 last season and went 13-5 in CAA play.
New River Valley rival Radford comes to Cassell Coliseum on Monday, Dec. 21. The Highlanders will make their fifth consecutive trip to Blacksburg. Radford finished the 2025-26 season 23-13 and advanced to the second round of the WNIT.
Virginia Tech wraps up its non-conference schedule against College of Charleston on Monday, Dec. 28. The Cougars last visited Blacksburg on Nov. 22, 2015, when the Hokies won 81-47. College of Charleston is coming off a 27-6 season that included a CAA championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Virginia Tech’s 18-game Atlantic Coast Conference schedule, along with television information and game times, will be announced at a later date.
