Considering all the charitable work he’s done off the court, Terance Mann’s career assist total seems absurdly low.
The Lowell native, currently a shooting guard for the Brooklyn Nets, has dished out 1,007 career assists in 519 NBA games, including playoffs.
Those numbers only tell a tiny portion of Mann’s impact.
The 6-6, 215-pound Mann continues to give back to the Lowell community in a major way. He’s returned home this week to host a basketball showcase and academic fair. The events began Monday and will conclude Thursday.
The Terance Mann Complete Player Foundation Sixth Annual Basketball Camp is being held for boys and girls ages 8–18 from Lowell and the surrounding communities.
It’s being held at The Mill Works, 22 Town Farm Road, Westford, each day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Mann is expected to be in attendance Wednesday and Thursday.
In addition to elite basketball instruction, the showcase will feature an academic fair, where representatives from more than 50 prep and private schools will be on hand to share information with youth and their families about their unique academic and athletic opportunities.
This is particularly important to Mann, who attended Hillside School in Marlboro and then Tilton School in Tilton, N.H. He’s passionate about providing similar opportunities for urban youth.
The academic fair is also being held at The Mill Works at the same time as the basketball camp.
The basketball camp and academic fair are hosted by the Terance Mann Complete Player Foundation (TMCPF.org), a nonprofit organization committed to increasing access and breaking down barriers for underserved youth in athletics and academics.
Young players at past camps have looked up to Mann in awe as he’s taken the court in Westford during drills.
The goal is to mirror opportunities Mann was offered as a youth growing up in Lowell. To date in 2026, TMCPF has provided $36,000 in scholarships and support to at-risk youth, empowering young people and increasing access on and off the basketball court.
Mann’s impact has been enormous. Due to funding from his foundation, a Lowell-based girls basketball league just completed a very successful inaugural summer season.
The basketball showcase and academic fair comes on the heels of the TMCPF’s recent back pack drive at the Boys & Girls Club of Lowell, where Mann, now entering his seventh year in the NBA, spent much of his youth. Leading up to the basketball showcase and academic fair, TMCPF distributed backpacks filled with school supplies to club members and local families in need.
Mann caught the attention of college programs when he starred at Tilton School. He chose Florida State over a bevy of schools and left as the program’s winningest player, highlighted by leading the Seminoles to an Elite 8 appearance.
He was a four-year star at Florida State. He was drafted in 2019 in the second round by the Clippers, 48th overall.
He’s carved out a lengthy NBA career, especially impressive considering he was drafted in the bottom portion of the second round. Mann has played for the Clippers, Atlanta Hawks and now the Nets.
