Kevin Durant considers the Brooklyn Nets roster the most talented team he has played for in the NBA. Speaking on Boardroom Talk, the star placed the Brooklyn team ahead of the Golden State Warriors, with whom he won two NBA championships.
“I would say Brooklyn. Kyrie, James, Blake Griffin was on the team, LaMarcus Aldridge, Paul Millsap, Patty Mills. We had the names on that team.”
Durant then explained why he would not choose Golden State: “When you’re just looking at straight paper, I know people want to say the Warriors. The Warriors had Steph and Klay, but when you look at that team at the time, Steph was an MVP, but Klay and Draymond didn’t have all the accolades at that time. They were on their way.”
He then highlighted the experience and accomplishments of the Brooklyn roster: “The dudes I’m talking about in Brooklyn had damn near already completed their careers and got all of the accolades, on top of me, James and Kyrie. So when you’re just putting accolades on the table, I would say that team.”
Durant did, however, make a distinction between talent and overall team quality: “But obviously, the best team I played on was the Warriors.”
Finally, referring to the 2018-19 Golden State roster that also featured DeMarcus Cousins, Durant added: “With Cousins at the five, that’s probably the best team that I’ve been a part of. That Brooklyn team is a close second.”
