Thousands turn out to Jaylen Brown’s 741 Frequency Fest on the Common in final farewell to city
BOSTON —
Thousands gathered on the Boston Common Sunday to attend former Celtic Jaylen Brown’s block party, nearly two months to the day after he was traded by the Celtics.
Brown, along with his 741 brand, hosted the hours-long block party that was complete with carnival games, back-to-school programs and giveaways, food, music and more.
People said they came out to the festival to say thank you to a man who has given so much to Boston.
“He’s done a lot for the community and he’s a good role model to every young and upcoming person who wants to make it and be the best that they can be,” one fan said.
“I’m just happy that a young, Black man can just reach success.”
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu also made an appearance at the block party.
Brown brought out the Celtics’ 2024 championship trophy and his Finals MVP trophy, and also appeared to sign items for fans.
The 29-year-old was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers on July 1, a move by the Celtics that was met with mostly disdain from Boston fans.
