Two former Warriors employees are “suing the franchise, alleging gender and race-based discrimination, workplace harassment and retaliation in regards to their eventual termination,” according to Luca Evans of the S.F. CHRONICLE. A lawyer for former Warriors Associate General Counsel Lisa Shelley — professionally known as Lisa Meyer — and former Warriors VP/DEI Jennifer Vasquez filed the lawsuit Aug. 25 in S.F. County’s Superior Court of California. The two are “seeking damages on the grounds of emotional distress and lost wages, and ask for ‘permanent injunctive relief in the form of an order’ prohibiting the Golden State franchise from further discriminating against employees.” The lawsuit read that both Shelley and Vasquez “paint the picture of a behind-the-scenes workplace culture in Golden State that was ‘marked by discrimination, hostility and retaliation.’” The Warriors said in a statement, “The lawsuit filed by two former employees contains allegations that are false, misleading, and unsupported by credible evidence. Many of the allegations have been previously reviewed or investigated and found to be without merit. Golden State intends to vigorously defend against these baseless claims” (S.F. CHRONICLE, 9/1).
