Boston Celtics forward Ron Harper Jr. has decided to give his new teammate Paul George the No. 13 jersey for the upcoming season.

According to NBA insider Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Celtics forward Ron Harper Jr. will give up his No. 13 to George, who wore it for the majority of his career with the Indiana Pacers, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Clippers.
In an interview with Robinson, Harper Jr. revealed that George was the favorite player of his brother, San Antonio Spurs star Dylan Harper, growing up, noting that they had tons of Paul George jerseys sitting around their house.
He called George joining him on the Celtics a full-circle moment and said he would gladly give up his number to George.

“Oh man, I’m very excited to play with PG, learn from him,” Harper told Robinson. “I haven’t had the chance to like to talk to him in person yet, but we’ve talked and, you know, I’m just really excited to have a vet that’s, you know, been through what he’s been through. Like you said, people say he’s a taller Kyrie.”
“Paul George was Dylan’s favorite player when he was younger. Like we literally have 10, maybe 20 Paul George jerseys just sitting around at the house, all in Dylan’s size when he was a kid. So it’s just a really cool, full-circle moment by how he came to Boston.”
“You know, I got off of 13, let him have his number back, cause I know that’s his number,” he said. “So hopefully we start our relationship off on the right foot, but I’m just really looking forward to learning a lot from him.”
Harper also noted that the two reached a mutual agreement regarding the jersey number.
“We came to a mutual agreement. So that helped both of us out, you know. He got to have the number, and I got to have a good summer. So, shout out PG!” Harper added.
