Klay Thompson is racing against Stephen Curry to achieve ‘desperate’ goal, says father

Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry won many NBA championships together with the Golden State Warriors. However, Klay’s father Mychal says it’s all about the next one.

Many NBA stars retire without ever knowing what it feels like to win a championship. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson don’t have to worry about that, they have won four with the Golden State Warriors.

There’s a different type of pressure which comes with that kind of success, though. Curry and Thompson are now among those trying to maximise their legacies by winning even more rings.

To that end, Klay has joined the Miami Heat after the Dallas Mavericks bought him out. And according to his father, Mychal Thompson, he’s in a desperate race with his former teammate for the same thing.

Thompson is a 5-time NBA All-Star, but he has never been the first option on a team. His contributions in the Warriors’ championship runs have been immense, though.

In any case, Klay’s goals are the same as the greatest players of his generation. As his father recently revealed, all he wants is that 5th championship ring.

Mychal Thompson says Klay is DESPERATE to win his 5th ring with the Miami Heat:

“He loved basketball. He still has deep love and affection for the game. That’s number 1. Number 2, 4 rings. He’s desperate to get that 5th ring. So is Steph, so is LeBron.”

“He loves basketball. He still has deep love and affection for the game. That’s number 1,” Mychal said about Klay. “Number 2, 4 rings. He’s desperate to get that 5th ring. So is Steph, so is LeBron.

“Because when you get to that 5-ring class, that’s like a special class. Kobe, Magic, Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan… You get to that 5th ring, that is such a special club to be in.”
