The Boston Celtics are the secret winners of the Los Angeles Clippers – Kawhi Leonard scandal. Or at least that is the point of view of the folks behind the “Backyard Buckets” YouTube channel, who put together a clip taking a deep dive into how the salary cap circumvention scandal plaguing team owner Steve Ballmer and the Clippers front office may actually turn out to be a boon to fans of the Celtics.
This is of course due to the fact that the Celtics are likely to land a first round pick for the 2028 NBA Draft from Los Angeles that could see the potential value of the selection rise. This is as a result of the more probably routes the team will take to prepare for the future in he wake of the league’s punitive response to said scandal.
Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say about why this could be the case for Boston fans.
