This past weekend, Tennessee basketball had a busy recruiting weekend. The Vols hosted class of 2027 point guards in five-star Cayden Daughtry and four-star Micah Gordon and five-star class of 2028 forward Bentley Lusakueno.
That was just the start of a busy football season for UT hoops, which creates a perfect backdrop for recruiting weekends. On Sunday, Tennessee set up another visit with a five-star, according to a report from Dushawn London, as well.
Class of 2028 small forward DJ Okoth will be in Knoxville on October 16 for an unofficial visit. That is sandwiched between visits with two SEC rivals, as he’ll see Kentucky on October 2 and Vanderbilt on November 14. His trip to see Rick Barnes and company aligns with the Tennessee football game against Alabama, which will also have Nasir Anderson on campus.

Okoth is a five-star recruit on 247 Composite. He ranks as the No. 17 player in the class, No. 5 small forward and No. 1 player from the state of Tennessee. He attends Bartlett High School just outside of Memphis. He measures in at 6-foot-6 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan and at 180 pounds.
Besides the trio of teams hosting Okoth for visits this fall, other programs to offer him include Mississippi State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Memphis and Providence, among others. However, it’s still pretty early in his recruiting process, meaning he’ll have plenty of time to pick up even more offers from top programs.
Tennessee initially offered Okoth back in August of 2025. UT wasn’t the first Power program to offer him, but got in early to make a strong first impression that it is hoping will pay off down the line.
