New Orleans Pelicans trade two players and picks to the Grizzlies
NEW ORLEANS —
The New Orleans Pelicans have traded former first-round pick Jordan Hawkins, Micah Peavy, a future second-round pick and a future second-round pick swap to the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Pelicans will receive AJ Johnson and Taj Gibson, according to ESPN reporter Shams Charania.
Hawkins was drafted with the No. 14 overall pick in 2023 and, so far, has failed to develop into a consistent starter with the Pelicans.
This is the second trade the Pelicans have made in recent weeks.
Last month, they made their first significant roster move of the offseason, signing free agent guard/forward Bennedict Mathurin.
The Pelicans’ first preseason game is less than a month away on Oct. 6 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Their first regular-season game is Oct. 21 against the Indiana Pacers at the Smoothie King Center.
