According to NBA reporter Sam Quinn of CBS Sports, there is a “very good chance” that Deni Avdija is available in free agency in the 2028 offseason.
“The Blazers are kind of a sinking ship. They are not setting themselves up to preserve the cap space they’re gonna need to renegotiate and extend Deni Avdija,” Quinn said on the Third Apron Podcast.

Deni Avdija had the best season of his career last season and is looking like a max contract type of player with his versatility on both ends of the court.
Right now, Avdija is on a very team-friendly deal whose worth is declining yearly, with him earning $13.1 million in the upcoming 2026-27 season and $11.8 million in the 2027-28 season after signing a 4-year, $55 million contract with the Washington Wizards back in 2023.
Last season, he made his first All-Star Game and led the Portland Trail Blazers to their first NBA playoff appearance since 2021.
The 25-year-old averaged 24.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 6.7 assists last season in 66 appearances.
