The Chicago Bulls announced on Thursday the organization’s plans to honor longtime broadcaster Stacey King.
The team’s longtime color commentator tragically passed away at his home on June 7, 2026 at the age of 59.
Throughout the 2026-27 season, Bulls uniforms will feature a commemorative patch on the upper-left side bearing King’s name alongside a microphone icon. The tribute recognizes the more than two decades he spent as one of the voices of the franchise.
The team will also host Stacey King Celebration Night on Feb. 4, just days after what would have been his 60th birthday on Jan. 29. The event will take place during the Bulls’ matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Additional details about the celebration will be announced at a later date.
King’s connection to the Bulls extended far beyond his broadcasting career. As a player, he was part of the franchise’s first three NBA championship teams from 1991 through 1993. After retiring, he returned to the organization as a broadcaster and became one of its most recognizable voices, eventually earning an Emmy Award for his work.
The Bulls are expected to rely on a rotating group of former players and broadcasters during the upcoming season. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Kendall Gill, Will Perdue, Scott Williams and Robbie Hummel will share broadcasting duties.
